A Boincing computer is a happy computer!

Berkeley Open Infastructure Network Computing (BOINC) is a program that utilizes idle volunteer computers to process scientific research. Using idle computers, BOINC is able to harness more computing power than several dedicated Super Computers. By volunteering you allow your computer to process information for a research project. And YOU choose the project of research from Biology and Medicine to Astronomy/Physics/Chemistry to Mathematics, computing, and games to Astrophysics to Earth Sciences. Check out the BOINC project page and I bet you find something interesting. Then if you decide to help advance research, got to the BOINC home page and get started
